to -- sents one woman to the hospital. ktvu's robert handa is live now. >> reporter: we have been asked to back up away from the house along with firefighters because pg&e investigators just gone inside to figure out more about the explosion incident that shook this neighborhood this afternoon. you can see some of the initial damage, as well as work the firefighters had to do to get inside. here is what it looked like after the explosion from a second floor kitchen. this is cell phone video given to us from neighbors. 14 units and 40 firefighters attacked the fire around 1:30 p.m. there were four people home but only one was in the kitchen. she was taken to the hospital with burns. the other three escaped. one told us what he saw. >> real loud explosion. boom! exploded. real loud. >> i just heard an explosion. i thought it was an earthquake. i came outside and the smoke was already coming out their window. yeah. >> reporter: scary? >> yes, it was. i am still shaking. >> we will look at what were the initial sources. whether it was natural gas. >> reporter: first pg&e and then fire

cooperating fully with law enforcement. live in san jose, robert handa, channel 2news. >>> san jose firefighters put out a brush fire near a homeless camp early this morning off oakland road next to the san jose municipal golf course. fire crews were able to keep the fire from spreading to the brush and trees around the homeless camp. >>> a car crashed into the -- killing the driver. chp says the car immediately burst into flames. the accident backed up traffic on both interstate 880 and highway 237 until about noon. >>> the next phase of the highway 4 widening project is now ready to go. state and local officials held a ground breaking ceremony at highway 4 and hillcrest avenue in antioch this morning. the widening will also make room for the e bart extension from pittsburg to antioch, a system that will run diesel trains. officials say it will benefit commuters. >> it's going to go from four lanes to eight lanes, so you double the capacity of the existing highway, but you'll also add more seats on the bart system. >> cal trans hopes to have this widening project completed by 2015.
